Building A Foot Bridge

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There is more than one way to go about foot bridge
construction. If you have decided to add a foot bridge or
two to your property you will want to know something about
foot bridge construction.

A foot bridge makes a nice addition to a garden area and
also looks lovely when constructed over a pond or Japanese
style dry river bed. There are several places to look when
you are ready for foot bridge construction.

There are foot bridge construction ideas in magazines and
books that are available online or at bookstores or
libraries. Home improvement centers may also have ideas or
plans for foot bridge construction.

If this is a first-time building project you may want to
consider a foot bridge construction kit. These kits can be
purchased online and many are easy to construct and come
with everything needed to complete the project.

Foot bridge construction kits will come with the materials
for many different sizes and styles of bridges. The foot
bridges may be constructed from pine, cedar or redwood.

Pine is attractive in its natural color or it can be
stained or painted. Make sure that that the pine has been
pressure-treated. Cedar resists mold and decay and it also
repels insects. It ages well and does not splinter easily.
Redwood resists rotting and holds up well in most weather
conditions.

If you want to pay less you may want to build the foot
bridge from plans instead of from a kit. This will decrease
the foot bridge construction costs. Once again, check for
foot bridge construction plans online where you will have a
nice variety of choices.

Foot bridge construction need not be difficult or
expensive.

Barclays Bank

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Modest Beginnings

The history of Barclays can be traced back to 1690 in the dark streets of London. It was named after David and Alexander Barclay, who were known for providing credit to transatlantic slave traders. In 1896, a number of banks in London and in provinces including Gurney's Bank of Norwich and Bankhouse's Bank of Darlington united under one banner - Barclays and Co. By 1919, the bank acquired several banks, such as the British Linen Bank and the South Western Bank, amalgamating them and extending the branch network. In 1965, the company established its first affiliate in the United States, the Barclays Bank of California. Since then, numerous acquisitions, takeovers and mergers have been made, making it one of the leading forces in banking and financial services industries in the world.

Offshore Banking

When it comes to offshore banking, Barclays is one of the most trusted in the world. Its offshore banking arm, the Barclays International and Private Banking Division, is often the choice of many British expatriates who were clients before they left the UK. Overall, its offshore banking division has a good reputation recognized by a growing customer base. Its success is highly attributed to its quality of service especially when it comes to management, security and growth it provides. Not to mention that it serves both individuals and corporations, allowing them to streamline cross border banking and trading.

If you are an expatriate, an international business professional or simply someone who has to make a transaction while you cross national borders, Barclays may be the right bank for you. It offers convenient and secure access to your account through the Internet or over the phone. It also offers tempting discounts on money transfers and the ability to transact in multiple currencies. It also provides UK tax advice, international mortgages and great interest rates.

Apart from that, the company offers personal, private and corporate banking solutions and international premier banking solutions for people with excess of 100,000 pounds to invest or deposit. If you have excess of 1 million pounds, however, offshore private banking is perfect for you.

To sign up, all you need to do is visit their website and set up an account. You'll be surprised that its official website is very user-friendly. Each service they offer is indicated with the details on how to get started.

Charismatic Communication - the Seven Keys to a Charismatic Voice

There are widely shared prototypes on the qualities that constitute leadership and leaders. Individuals who 'fit' universal categories, who look and sound the part in a particular culture, will be more readily embraced by audiences than those who don't. In practical terms what this means is that if you want people to take notice of what you say, you have to project a visual and vocal image that meets as closely as possible the expectations of your target audience.

Research has shown that when people encounter you as a leader, speaker, or media spokesperson for the first time, they will scrutinise rapidly your looks and appearance and form an impression in seconds. They will scan your face and eyes first, make a judgement and move on to your body. This quick appraisal is usually followed by attention to your clothing and manner of dress, on which further assessments are made. They will then tune into your voice and notice your vocal quality and tone. If you fit their categories and you're given the thumbs up, they may then choose to listen to what you're actually saying.

The voice is one of the most valuable, albeit neglected, facets of image building. As an oratorical tool, it gives form, colour and meaning to what we say. Oddly, we find it easier to tell others if they're speaking too fast, at a higher than optimal pitch, or too softly, for example, than to hear and correct our own deficiencies.

There are seven important elements to consider when building a charismatic voice:

Dynamic Range:

How loud the volume of the voice is. Your aim should be to be heard without shouting. You should never walk into a room voice first, but should have the flexibility to lower and raise your volume to match the moment and the content.

Be multi-dynamic. The loudness range you employ in everyday speech varies enormously according to circumstances. Avoid, at all costs, being mono-dynamic. A boring speaker who sends an audience to sleep is most likely to be mono-dynamic (one loudness) rather than monotonic (one pitch) So, be louder, be softer, and make sure there is plenty of variation, but don't yell.

Resonance:

Resonance occurs when the source of vibration (the vocal folds or chords) set up vibrations in other parts of your body. Your primary resonating structures (the parts of your body where sound waves directly or indirectly cause vibration) are your teeth, hard palate, nasal bone, cheekbones, sinuses, forehead, and cranium. If you resonate efficiently, the vibrations can continue to other parts of your body such as the rib cage and the spinal vertebrae. Speakers with well-trained voices 'feel' their voices all over their bodies.

Few of us use our full powers of resonance, thereby rarely ever reaching our potential of producing rich, beautiful, balanced and uninhibited sound. In fact, most speakers with untrained voices use about half or fewer of their resonating areas. Voices that don't achieve full resonance potential, or that centre on a couple of resonators, usually sound a little chesty, tinny, thin, or nasal.

Read a book on voice production and practice balancing your resonators. Or, seek professional guidance from a voice specialist on how to build a rich and resonant voice. Everyone has the potential to create a mellifluous and infectious voice - you simply need to know how to release its power.

Tone:

The characteristics of a sound. A cow mooing has a different sound/tone than a dog growling. A voice that carries consternation can unsettle an audience, while a voice that carries humour or mischievousness can get an audience to smile. Effective speakers develop tonal flexibility raising and lowering the tone of their voices for emphasis and de-emphasis and for creating the right tonal ambience for their messages.

Two crucial elements of tone are Range and Energy. If you have a limited range as many people do and swing between three and five notes to colour your communication, most people will interpret your voice as being flat.

The typical response from people with a limited range and energy when their voices are recorded and played back is "My voice sounds so boring!" And so it does. If your range is repressed, and if the energy level is constant or weak, your voice may not sound boring on the inside because you can hear as well as feel its energy.

The voice you hear on a recording is the voice everyone else hears, and it can put people to sleep better than any proprietary medicine if it reflects a limited range. Remember that boring teacher or lecturer who made his subject about as interesting as Donald Rumsfeld's wardrobe ? Or the public speaker who spoke with such flat tones that she cured an entire group of septuagenarians of their insomnia? They did it with tonal inflexibility. Unless you want to become celebrated as public speaking's answer to mogadon, stretch your vocal range and vary your energy levels..

Vocal Pitch:

How high or low an individual's resting voice is. Bill Clinton has a relatively light voice; Meryl Streep has a middle pitch, while Morgan Freeman has a very deep base voice. Every speaker has a range of notes from which they can draw. Even a light voice can be powerful if it resonates.

Many speakers automatically raise the pitch of their voice when they confront a microphone or begin speaking in front of an audience. This habit is often ingrained and may be caused by a combination of fear (stage fright) and the mistaken belief that the voice must be raised when you speak to an audience. If you begin speaking at a higher pitch, where are you going to go when you need to emphasise, or colour, your words - further upward into falsetto? Modern microphones make it unnecessary to sound as if you're conducting a Transatlantic conversation entirely without the aid of technology.

Other speakers drop their pitch and speak from the bottom end of their range in the mistaken belief that they will deliver multiple 'eargasms' to their audiences. Males are particular offenders in forcing the voice deeper into the throat and chest. Some image advisers counsel their clients to drop their voice, but this is not the answer to adding authority to the voice.

Contrary to some beliefs, faked deep voices do not necessarily advertise high sperm counts and sexual prowess. If anything, they communicate sexual insecurity or gender ambivalence. The key to finding your best voice is to make the pitch compatible with the emotion being expressed and use tonal range to colour the words that need to be stressed.

Pace:

This relates to the length of each sound we intone. Talking at a Gattling gun rate causes words and syllables to sound staccato, while talking slowly lengthens them, and, at extremes, makes you sound as though you were born in the Ozark Mountains.

Varying the pace, that is, walking, trotting, cantering and even galloping at times, evokes greater audience commitment because diversity stimulates attention. Pace also connects directly to emotion. For grave pronouncements pace tends to be slow, and for excitement it tends to be fast.

Silence:

Sometimes more can be said with silence than all the words in the dictionary. Silence is one of the great arts of communication. Cicero said 'there is not only an art, but an eloquence in it.'A pause effectively used can be of immense dramatic value. See how long you can pause before your alarm system is triggered, and then pause a little longer. The rules of pause are easy to integrate into your presentation or speech patterns:

A mini pause is about a half second in duration. It allows you to break your sentences into chunks or pieces of meaning. They help your audience absorb different ideas contained in your sentences or content.

A segment pause lasts around one to two seconds. You hear newsreaders use segment pause between stories so as to indicate contrast between one story and the next. This enables your listeners to avoid confusing one idea with another

A unit pause is between two and four seconds in duration. It allows your listeners time to let an important idea sink in and flags to them that something significant or momentous has been said.

A dramatic pause can last from a second to about five seconds. This form of pause can be used before or after important words or phrases. It can also be used to get your audience to fill in a word before you have said it.

Emotional Fingerprinting:

Some people call this Emphasis but I believe that emphasis is too narrow a definition to describe what one actually has to do to create true meaning through the delivery of words. Emphasis describes the colour we apply to words to convey meaning. By stressing or accenting words, we draw our listeners' attention to them. In ordinary extemporaneous speech, the stress values you place on words are 100 percent accurate. You filter your stream of words in accordance with the emotional and intellectual value you place on their meaning in a conversation.

Combining effective emphasis with appropriate dynamic range, tone, pitch, resonance and pace reflect the emotional fingerprint of a message or part of a message. If your voice does not mirror congruently the emotional content of your message you create ambiguity in the minds of your listeners and give them something to think about other than the content of your message.

The natural filtering processes can go awry when we speak in front of gatherings of people. The emotion we feel in response to facing an audience sometimes overwhelms the emotion we would normally express through emphasis. We fall into silly vocal patterns like using an upward inflection at the end of each sentence, we punctuate our phrases with patterned umms and errs, we inhibit the vitality in our voice with restrictive breathing patterns, and so on. The end-result is a vocal performance than can be duller than dull.

A Waterford Crystal Antique Story, What's in Your Basement?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Not too long ago I had a gentleman from Vermont contact me saying he had found a pair of Crystal Lamps in his basement. They were covered with some old sheets and were stored in the corner behind some boxes. Not knowing how long they were actually there, he was wondering if I could advise him on the origin or manufacturer of these footed crystal lamps, and could they possibly be Waterford Crystal Antiques?, even without any markings.

The story goes... that his Mom and Aunt had been left a Crystal Lamp each, by his grandparents, who had lived in various States, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and eventually settled in Vermont, where he is living now. It's not sure whether his grandparents had visited Ireland at some stage or where the lamps were purchased, or how in fact they came to be in his basement ? These Crystal Lamps had a Tin Base that was somewhat rusted and he proceeded to dismantle the electric components to give them a proper clean-up.

The Crystal Lamps measured 16 inches high by 8 inches wide and had a steel rod that he carefully removed and placed aside in order to wash the crystal, he then placed them in a large basement sink. While cleaning the crystal lamps his doorbell rang so he stopped what he was doing and proceeded up the stairs to open the door where he was greeted my an old lady who asked, do you remember me? Richard responded "you do look somewhat familiar".

The old lady said that she was a dear old friend of his Aunt, was visiting her daughter and decided to stop by and see how he was. He invited the old lady in and offered her some tea, where she went on to explain the friendship. She had in fact met Richard when he was a young boy, while he was visiting his Aunt in Georgia, with his Mom.

After many hours of chatting and catching up on old times, Richard asked her if she remembered anything about Crystal Lamps and how they came to be in his Mom's basement. The old lady explained that many years ago she had given birth out of wedlock as a teenager and her parents sent her to a convent in Ireland where she had become a Nun for many years. The Crystal Lamps had been a gift from their Grandparents to each daughter, and she had the third one.

The pair of Crystal Lamps were indeed Waterford Crystal and appraised at a high value, even without the markings and watermark. It was further discovered that in 1952, three Waterford Crystal Lamps were commissioned by a "yank" who frequently visited Ireland from Southern Georgia in the United States. It was further established that these were some of the "first large crystal pieces" to be produced by the masters of Waterford Crystal. Ireland, post war. What's in YOUR basement?

US Minor Holidays and Occasions

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Hereunder is a directory of minor holidays and occasions in the United States. Some of them are virtually unknown, and others are quite obscure.

April Fools' Day - (April 1): the day for practical jokes (only before noon in the UK). Its origins are obscure, but it bears a resemblance to an ancient Roman festival for the goddess of nature.

Arbor Day - (last Friday in April): devoted to trees and their preservation. It is held on December 22 everywhere else in the world.

Armed Forces Day - (third Sunday in May): a day to honour the US armed forces.

Citizenship Day - (September 17): replaced Constitution Day in 1952 by presidential proclamation.

Daylight-Saving Time: was first proposed by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, but became the Uniform Time Act in 1966. It is not observed in Hawaii, the Eastern Time Zone of Indiana, most of Arizona (except on the Navajo Reservation), American Samoa, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam.

Election Day - (Tuesday after the first Monday in November): presidential elections are held in years divisible by four and elections for all members of the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate in years evenly divisible by two.

Fathers' Day - (third Sunday in June): was first observed in West Virginia in 1908, but this uniquely American holiday was not made official until 1972.

Flag Day - (June 14): was first celebrated in 1877, which was the centenary of the adoption of the modern design. Truman passed the Flag Day Bill in 1949.

Groundhog Day - (February 2): on this day the groundhog peeps out of his burrow. If he sees his own shadow there will be six weeks of Winter to follow, otherwise Spring is just around the corner.

Halloween - (October 31): All Hallow's Eve is the day before the feast of All Saints. It started as a pagan custom honouring the dead and a celebration of Autumn. 'Trick or Treat' is purely American with no historical foundation.

Kwanzaa - is a secular observance by African-Americans to commemorate their African heritage. It begins on Dec.26th when a candle in a candelabrum is lit every day for seven days. It was first practiced by Maulana Karenga in 1966.

Mothers' Day - (second Sunday in May): was conceived by Anne M. Jarvis of Philadelphia as a way for children to pay homage to their mothers. It received presidential proclamation in 1914.

National Maritime Day - (May 22): was proclaimed in 1935 to memorialize the SS Savannah's first successful transatlantic crossing by a steamship in 1819. It is also a day of remembrance of merchant mariners who died in defense of their country.

National Teachers' Day - (Tuesday of the first full week in May): is when pupils are meant to honour the teaching profession.

St. Patrick's Day - (March 17): has been borrowed from Ireland where it is their national saint's day.

St. Valentine's Day - (February 14): was originally to honour two saints martyred by Emperor Claudius (214 - 270), but has been devoted to lovers since the Middle Ages.

Susan B. Anthony Day - (February 15): Anthony (1820 - 1906) worked for women's rights and suffrage.

United Nations' Day - (October 24): commemorates the endorsement of the UN Charter in 1945 by the then five permanent members of the Security Council.

QM2 Transatlantic-Eastbound or Westbound?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The pre-eminent long-distance ocean route is the Transatlantic Crossing. Today, the Queen Mary 2 is the only ship that has a regular summer schedule on this route, and many travelers are eager to take it. Years ago, when ship travel was the only way to go (actually, it still is!) people would logically take a round trip, but today, although some still do that, it's more likely people would sail one way and fly the other. The question is, is sailing eastbound or westbound preferable? How could it really make any difference? Well there is a difference. Let me explain the trip, and then the reasons for my answer.

Let's first make clear the difference between a cruise and a crossing. Cruises include stops in a number of ports, sometimes almost daily. I've even heard people express their preference for the stops, complaining that if an "at sea" day interrupts that shore routine, there's nothing to do. Of course, some ships do offer precious little to do on at sea days. In any case, on a cruise you divide your time between two experiences, visiting ports and enjoying life on board.

A crossing is different in that there are no stops. The QM2 connects Southampton and New York in six days. The occasional other ship doing a Transatlantic Crossing might connect other ports in a similar time frame. In any case this sort of trip consists of nothing other than sea days, and one's whole concentration is centered on life on board. How boring can that be? Not in the slightest. As a matter of fact, there's not enough time to do everything you'd like.

First there's the dining. Some go to the restaurant for all three meals, but I prefer to have breakfast and lunch in the self-serve restaurants because it's quicker, and I want to do other things. It's the evening meal that for me embodies the pleasure of dress-up dining in the formal restaurant, where you get to meet interesting people, possibly including ship's officers. (Tip: request a large table, for eight, to meet the greatest variety of people; these tables are also more likely to be "hosted" by an officer.) Jacket-and-tie suffices most nights, and a tux CAN be used on the more formal nights.

On the QM2 the day is filled with interesting lectures in at least two venues. Most lecturers are part of an Oxford University program. There are planetarum shows, performances by representatives of the Royal Shakespeare Company, a spa, swimming pool, games all day long, a floor show after dinner, dancing in two venues after that. Or, you could just sit in a deck chair reading and watching the sea. Better yet, a walk on deck will get you to experience the uniqueness in the middle of the ocean of having a 360° horizon surrounding you.

I often ask people on board why they chose a given direction for their crossing, and they say it was by chance, then usually agree with my opinion as to the preferable direction. Of course shipping companies will never tell you which direction is preferable, since they have to fill the ship both ways, but, assuming your travel schedule is flexible enough to choose either eastbound or westbound, here is my answer.

In another context, Horace Greeley famously said "Go West, young man!", and that answer applies here. But why?

The answer lies in the time zones. In the six days the QM2 takes to cross the Atlantic, it crosses five time zones. Picture this. You've just had an enjoyable dinner, and may have gone to see the show. It's about 11:00 and you look at your watch. Is there time to go dancing, especially considering that early lecture tomorrow? If you're going eastbound, you know there'll be a reminder in your room to advance your clocks by an hour, so it's virtually midnight. This is the experience we all have when daylight savings starts and you "spring ahead". It's not much fun.

But on the other hand, if you're sailing westbound and see it's 11:00, you know it's really only 10:00. The evening is still young. How about a dance? This is the same fun we have when daylight savings time ends and we "fall behind".

A westbound Transatlantic Crossing is therefore not only five hours longer than otherwise expected, which is close to half of a waking day, but each of these five hours is spread out, coming just at the right time, improving five separate days. Also note that any world cruise always, always, goes westbound, adding a full 24 hours to that sort of trip. To my mind, it's a no-brainer. Westward ho!

Michelangelo The Italian Super liner

TS Michelangelo was an Italian ocean liner built in 1965 for Italian Line by Ansaldo shipyards in Genoa. It was one of the last ships to be built primarily for liner service across the North Atlantic. Its sister ship, the TS Raffaello, the Italian Line had begun planning new ships in 1958. Originally they were only slightly larger than SS Leonardo da Vinci, which has not yet built, but the jet had no significant influence on the Mediterranean at the moment and a couplereal super coatings seemed an interesting idea, not only from a business perspective, but also in terms of creating jobs for our sailors and shipyard workers. It was therefore decided that would be the largest new ships are built in Italy since the SS Rex in 1932. It 'was decided that the ships would be true-liners, their accommodations divided into three classes. For some reason, it was also decided that the three lowest passenger deck had no portholes. Ithas been claimed that this made the boat lean hull shape, but that seems unlikely to be true, as the ships were built of similar length to width ratio windows along the fuselage. What are the shortcomings in its first draft, however, the sisters both new technological side, "Advanced". The most striking feature of their ships were designed funnels Polytechnic of Turin, which is an intricate lattice-like tubes (instead of the traditional, including for surface)...

Liverpool - Transformed Into a UK Best Investment Destination

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Liverpool is the metropolitan administrative division of Merseyside, England. It lies on the eastern side of Mersey Estuary. In recent times the city has been transformed into the UK's leading business spot by an ambitious regeneration program. In Liverpool, £4 billion have been committed to investors' confidence and physical regeneration. Liverpool has seen large growth in all sectors, both private and public, as compared to the rest of the United Kingdom.

Major private sector industry firms have also invested in Liverpool, especially in the financial sector, and are either opening or expanding their sites. For example, JPMorgan, Barclays and Alliance & Leicester. Many call centers have also popped up in recent years. Means of transportation such as ferries, transatlantic steamships, electric trains, municipal trams and helicopters are found in Liverpool. In the field of public health, purpose-built ambulance, slum clearance, X-ray medical diagnosis, motorized municipal fire-engine and cancer research centers all have originated in Liverpool. Potentially profitable investment opportunities are coming up because of the changes in national and international perceptions regarding Liverpool. Investment in this city is becoming an increasingly attractive option as innovations are led for its shift towards a city with world class proportions. Property can be considered a long term investment option in Liverpool. There are city lofts to manage your property and to ensure that the tenant and landowner both are satisfied. By investing in property in Liverpool you can build a comfortable nest egg for retirement, either as a mortgage-free home in the cosmopolitan city or a good source of income for those who wish to stay where they are. Investors from all over Ireland and England have arrived on the property market.

Investment in Liverpool is encouraging because of schemes such as 'Liverpool vision' are helping to create a number of investment opportunities in the city. This focus on regeneration and business is even attracting students to Liverpool. The number of students has increased considerably and so has their accommodation facilities. Many investors have acquired cheap terraces in the last year which threatens to be a torrent of student property on the market. Many warehouse apartments are being built near Liverpool's Chinatown, which is a serious development and is expected to lead to substantial price rises.

Unemployment in Liverpool is rapidly disappearing due to financial services and government jobs which are relocated to Liverpool. Liverpool also attracts a number of tourists as this city is packed with leisure outlets, art galleries and museums. Liverpool is the home to premier soccer teams Everton FC and Liverpool FC and the world famous horse race Aintree Grand National. The creative industries, culture and tourism will ensure sustainable development in coming years. The two big exposures this city has are the Halewood car plant to the south of the city - where they make Jaguar cars - and call centers moving to India.

Thus, foreign investment in Liverpool is continuing to be encouraging and supported. With all the favorable investment opportunities, Liverpool is surely one of the best destinations in which to invest.

Disney Family Vacations

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The name Walt Disney has become synonymous with fun and thrills for decades. Mr. Disney had wanted to create a place where dreams could come true and with his Fantasy Lands and Tomorrow Worlds he has dramatically succeeded. When you hear Disney, you know you will have the time of your life. Family vacations are what Disney is call about, from the cruise line through the multi-national Parks; you won't regret the time you spend with your family.

Disneyland

Located in Anaheim, California this is the first venture from Walt Disney. Make sure you come to the Park with a plan otherwise you may miss out on a lot. The best thing to do is to put aside enough time to see and do everything.. which could be days. Definitely get a pass for the multiple days you plan to visit, and as an added bonus, you probably should take advantage of the vacation packages available and stay on campus. You get additional monies off, coupons, etc. when you go this route. Oh â€" and don't miss out on the California Adventure.

Disney World

This is the second park created by Disney, located in Orlando, Florida. There are four different theme parks and two water parks, including the Epoch Center on this campus. The beach is also accessible for fun in the sand and sun. Again, it is suggested to get all-day passes and plan with a package in mind for extra savings.

Disney Resort: Paris, France

With all the rides and thrills offered by the American counterparts, Paris has added in the Walt Disney Studio Park, Disney Village which is an entertainment district and Lake Disney. Plan, plan, plan. Maybe think of a few highlights the family doesn't want to miss, or you'll spend weeks and weeks here to catch everything that there is to offer.

Tokyo Disney Resort

You can visit nearby Tokyo and Disney all in one trip if you plan your time wisely. The Park has the standard set of Disney rides, plus the Ikspiari dining, shopping and entertainment district.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Outside of the Park you can visit a multitude of places to offer up a good chuck of history. Within the Park there are the rides that make Disney famous, along with Inspiration lake and an arboretum.

Cruise Liners

See Europe, the Bahamas, the Caribbean or take a Transatlantic cruise with Disney. There are plenty of off-ship activities to enjoy as a family, as well as onboard. Disney musicals and pools are just a couple of the things to enjoy while on the cruise.

The Plan

First, do not go over budget. Disney.com has plenty of packages and information available for each of the destinations so that you can plan accordingly, with no surprises. Secondly, if you want to beat the crowds, go off-season. You can see more when the lines are shorter. Don't forget about your family's needs. Schedule some down time for eating and sleeping so the kids don't become over stimulated. Enjoy getting in earlier to the park when staying in a Disney-run hotel. There are kids camps and childcare available at many of these hotels, so if the adults wish to get away on their own, you have a chance to do so. Guidebooks are great, and don't forget to figure souvenirs into the budget.

Pack up your troubles, head for the hills of Disney and have yourself a ball! Mickey and friends are ready and awaitin'!

How to Find a Banking Job in Miami

We are sure that your friends have advised you it is not the right time to apply for a job in the bank industry due to the financial crisis. In that case we will offer you some statistics. On the contrary, the financial industry in Florida and in America in general has been experiencing the best period ever.

Therefore, being a safeguard of the goods of your citizens is a dream that can most surely come true. Especially now when the leading brands of the financial industry of this country are in need of your help.

You have probably heard of SunTrust Bank thanks to their long-lasting partnership with one of the worlds most famous drinks company. Working in a bank has some perks of its own, however, it requires high level of responsibility and reliability if you want to stay longer in the circle of trust of this industry. If you think that you own these qualities, or even better, if you have worked for this industry before, don't keep on waiting your employer to come down your chimney for Christmas, but send your resume right now and expect to be a part of the financial industry in the country which has the third largest deposit base in America. We wish you the best of luck.

Cunards Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Sounding Horns in Southampton

www.welovecruiseships.com Turn up the volume and hang on to your seats. Experience Queen Mary 2's ships whistles at their finest and loudest! Here are two pieces of film taken upon departure from Southampton on 18th November 2006 and her subsequent transatlantic run to Fort Lauderdale. Her port side whistle comes from the original Queen Mary in Long Beach. It used to sit on her middle funnel until it was removed in 1970 and placed in the Queen Mary Museum aboard the great ship. In 2004 it was restored and added to RMS Queen Mary 2. Enjoy!

Pure Pitch

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It is said that with great power comes great responsibility; well that is exactly what you shall attain, by acquiring the key to mastering the Pure Pitch. Of course musicians like Beethoven and Mozart did not just produce astonishing pieces of music just like that, but instead had a way of reaching it.

Instead of using these other pitch recognition techniques why not try something that will get you results instantly with great determination and consistency? Well the answer is that people don't seem to give many things in life a try which is why they will never see results. It is like saying if you don't go on a diet, or exercise you will never lose weight. So for all of you who are keen to develop and attain this skill of Pure Pitch well here is all it is. It all comes down to using one of your 5 senses, your ear in this case to listen to the notes played of a musical piece using you primary anchor note as a reference to simply work out where that particular note belongs in the chromatic scale and thus call out the note by name.

There you have it, the key to pure pitch presented to you in literally 3 simple steps. There are many people out there who will make it to become the hidden musicians if they simply apply this method, accompanied by determination consistency and time, you shall walk the road of success and be proud for as long possible.

Repositioning Cruises

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Repositioning cruises refer to when ships are given a different itinerary from the one that is normally navigated. Generally, a cruise ship that is repositioned will sail from one hemisphere to another. Many of these sailings are referred to as transatlantic or transpacific depending over which ocean the ship navigates.

For example, a transatlantic cruise is when a ship navigates from Fort Lauderdale (United States) to the port of Southampton (England), crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

It is worth mentioning that a cruise ship leaving from a United States or Caribbean port in the spring (say in April) may not return until December. Therefore, bookings on repositioning cruises occur both ways. Also, ships often sail from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean in April and Alaska in May. These ships usually return to the Caribbean in September.

Sometimes the return airfare is included in the cabin price, but don't count on it. Make certain that you know the cost of your return trip before you book your cruise.

You simply can not beat the value of repositioning cruises. If voyaging is truly what you love to do then repositioning cruises are for you. You will enjoy many relaxing days on transatlantic and transpacific cruises. Also, low fares are a major advantage.

You should reserve early because cabins sell fast, and the more expensive cabins go first. Fares for an inside cabin are as low as $60 per night for a 12 or 13 night cruise. Do the math and you will agree that these cruises offer unmatched value among all of your vacation options.

Contact a travel agent for more information and do not forget to ask if there are any repositioning cruises that include return airfare.

Myth About Hades, the God of the Underworld

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In Greek mythology, when the people died, they went to the Underworld, which was ruled by Hades, the god of the Underworld. Hades was the son Cronus and Rhea. He was also the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. He was married to Persephone.

Hades was a merciless god, and all humans and gods were afraid of him. He did not accept any prayers or praises that were given to him. Even when sacrifices were made for him by the humans, he did not accept them. Hades owned a helmet presented to him by Cyclops and this helmet had the power to make him invisible. He was the only Olympian god who did not live on Mount Olympus.

The most famous myth about Hades is his kidnapping of Persephone. According to ancient Greek mythology, Hades kidnaps Persephone, while she is playing in the garden, as she was promised to him by Zeus. Demeter, the goddess of fertility and agriculture and Persephone's mother, spent nine days and nine nights looking for her. During this period, she refused to do her work and the Earth became devoid of crops and flowers. Finally seeing the plight on Earth, Zeus persuaded Hades to allow Persephone to return to her mother. However, since Persephone had eaten a pomegranate offered by Hades, she had to spend 4 months in a year in the Underworld. It is believed that when Persephone spends time in the Underworld, Demeter gets sad and stops working. This marks the onset of winter, while when her daughter returns, she is happy and this marks the onset of spring.

It is believed that Persephone played an important role in changing Hades' attitude towards humans. He later became known Pluto, a giver of wealth, and blessed those who prayed to him by giving them grain and his blessings.

The Coming New World Order

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's just a conspiracy theory, right? The yearning for a single world government can be traced all the way back to the Tower of Babel. If you believe in the Bible as I do, you know God wasn't to happy about that little gathering. The secret societies that have been used to foster this ongoing goal can be traced back to Babylon, Egypt, Greek and Gnostic cults, the Knights Templar, Rosicrucians, Freemasons, and the Illuminati.

The Order of Illuminati was a group formed from within the Freemasons in 1776 by a Jesuit taught man by the name of Adam Weishaupt. It's goal was also the creation of a new world order but the group was suppressed by the Bavarian government for allegedly plotting to overthrow all of the kings in Europe including the Pope! The Order was carried on by Geoseppe Messini of Italy and Albert Pike of South Carolina who was a 33rd degree Mason. This group would spur on others such as the Bildeberg Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, Club of Rome, the U.N and many more.

The Bildeberg Group, the hub of these organizations, had its first meeting in 1954. It is an unofficial, invitation only, annual gathering of people of global influence in the fields of business, banking, and politics. It has also recently been represented by many global corporations such as IBM, Xerox, Shell, Nokia, and Daimler.

The Trilateral Commission was the brainchild of David Rockefeller, then the Chairman of Foreign Relations, in a 1972 meeting of the Bildeberg Group. It was created to foster closer cooperation between America, Europe, and Japan. Founding members also included Alan Greenspan and Paul Volker who would later become heads of the Federal Reserve. In 1975 the commission presented "An Outline for Remaking World Trade and Finance."

If it's starting to sound like the same group of people running around in the same groups, you're right. Add to this group the majority of present and past cabinet members of the U.S government and you come up with a pretty powerful list of people all pushing for the same thing. These people want to level the global economic and political playing field to finally usher in their long awaited "new world order" which you see printed on the back of your dollar. George H. W. Bush stated in a State of the Union message in 1991, "What is at stake is more than one small country; it is a big idea-a new world order..." In 1991, David Rockefeller in a speech to the Bilderberg Society in Baden Baden, Germany said: "We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to arch towards a world government."

The European Union was founded with a treaty signing in Rome in 1957. It would become the cornerstone of a three bloc strategy to unite the world into this single political-economic entity with the North American Free Trade Agreement, (NAFTA), as the second bloc and APEC, (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), being the third. We're already seeing the merge between the North American bloc and the E.U. as reported by World Net Daily which stated that the U.S. and the E.U. are working on a seven year plan to merge the two economies into the "Transatlantic Common Market" by 2015. These three blocs will be one before you know it and the mark of this beast will be right there waiting.

This little plot thickened recently when World Net Daily also reported that some of the wealthiest people in the world met secretly in New York. As reported by The London Times, they were called together by Bill Gates and included David Rockefeller, Ted Turner, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffett, George Soros, and Michael Bloomberg just weeks after the recent Bildeberg meeting in Greece. They agreed at this meeting, for all of us, to cap the human population at 8.3 billion people. This apparently, will be the seating capacity for the new world order. Faced with the daily onslaught of "global" terrorism, "global" war, "global" trade, a "global" economic collapse, and even "global" climate change, the forces that be are herding mankind into a "global" crisis which I'm sure they'll have all the "global" answers for.

The Bible clearly states that every one of these conditions will exist all at the same time in history for the final days of this Earth age. It will culminate in a single political-economic world government described as a beast rising from the sea in Revelation 13:1. Apparently they're so close to closing the deal that it's even in the open now, to the point that World Net Daily recently ran the headline - Kissinger: Obama Primed to Create New World Order. It is only a conspiracy theory though, right?.

How to Become a Millionaire - Here's 3 Ways

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's something that we all dream about and chances are if you had one wish you'd ask to be a millionaire right? But how can you become a millionaire is there some special knack or insider secret or is it just down to luck?

As I see it there are only really three ways to become a millionaire the first is to win the lottery now if you're a person that likes to gamble this may seem a perfectly logical way for you to make a million the only flaw in your plan are the odds of winning, they are impossibly stacked against you. You stand more chance of marrying into money than actually winning it.

The Second way you can become a millionaire is to steal it. Conning or robbing people is not a very honourable way to build a fortune not to mention the dangers involved with criminal activities, not least the threat of spending time behind bars and losing all your ill gotten gains. Like disgraced businessman Bernard Madoff who pleaded guilty to the largest investment fraud ever committed estimated at 65Billion Dollars.

The Third way you can get wealthy is probably the hardest but ultimately the most ethical and most satisfying, it can be broken down into two separate fields so want to know how to become a millionaire? Yes well here goes...

In this world ordinary people are not rewarded for their skills. However, if you are extraordinary or have a rare highly sought after skill, you can be paid very very well think of top sportsmen or actors both have sensational but rare talents, not everyone can do what they do right?

The other way is to become an entrepreneur, forget about working for someone else you will never become a millionaire while working for a boss. The time to make it as an entrepreneur is now and the best way to be successful is to help people by solving their problems. If you can provide services or information that can solve people's problems whether they be emotional, physical, or financial you can make money.

Think of The Hilton's they solve problems by providing luxury accommodation for holidaying people. Or British Airways solving the problem of faster transatlantic travel, or even Bill Gates who solved computer compatibility problems with his now legendary windows operating system just think where we would be now without it, would you be even reading this?

So there you have it the real secret to being a millionaire is to be extraordinary and try to solve people's problems and with the power of the Internet you can do this now easier than ever I hope you have enjoyed this article and you know have a better idea of how to become a millionaire.

Six-Star Cruising on Luxury Cruise Lines

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A luxury cruise is just what the name implies, a cruise at the upper end of the spectrum, not just five stars but a six-star cruise. There are six cruise lines that are in the luxury class: Crystal Cruise Line, Cunard Cruise Line, Radisson Seven Seas, The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea Cruise Line, and Windstar Cruises.

Crystal Cruise Line has received numerous awards for excellence. For the last nine years, Conde Nast Traveler has named Crystal "Best Large-Ship Cruise Line". Also for the last nine years, Travel + Leisure magazine has given Crystal the status of "World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line". And for service, a Travel + Leisure reader's poll voted Crystal "World's Best". Crystal Cruise Line operates only three ships: Crystal Harmony, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. These ships carry approximately 1,000 passengers each and Crystal Cruise Line boasts the greatest passenger space per guest of any cruise line.

Do you recognize the ship names Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth? These great ships come from Cunard, a name long synonymous with luxury and elegance in cruises. "With Cunard, the journey may be even more magnificent than the destination" states their promotional literature. Cunard operates just two award-winning luxury ships. The Queen Mary 2, launched in January, 2004, is known as the longest, tallest and largest ocean liner and carries 2,620 passengers. It is replacing the Queen Elizabeth 2 for transatlantic crossings but the QE2 will still be available for cruises.

Radisson Seven Seas is a small luxury cruise line. Small here means that the ships carry a small number of passengers. Fewer than 700 fortunate passengers per cruise are pampered by attentive staff. Radisson Seven Seas has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the "World's Best Small Cruise Line". Radisson Seven Seas appeals to the sophisticated traveler.

The Yachts of Seabourn cruise line advertises that they provide "Ultra Luxury" by "delivering the highest levels of personalized service to an exclusive group of guests aboard intimate, elegant ships that could visit the most enticing destinations worldwide." Seabourn sails three identical all-suite ships that cater to only 208 passengers each. Of course, dining and service is world-class.

Silversea Cruises is a new company, founded in 1994, for the express purpose of providing an ultra-luxury cruise experience aboard small and intimate ships with all the features of a large cruise vessel. The Silverseas ships Cloud, Wind, Shadow, and Whisper provide all-suite accommodations that between 250 square feet and over 1,300 square feet in size. Silversea vies with Radisson Seven Seas and Crystal Cruise Lines for the accolades of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure in the world's best categories. Silversea Cruises has also has been named by Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines to be the "World's Best Small Cruise Line" many times since its inception.

Windstar Cruises offers a totally different sailing experience. Windstar Cruises offers motor-sail-yachts instead of cruise ships. Yes, their ships actually have sails that are computer-controlled with the latest in technology. Windstar's four ships carry just 148 to 308 passengers in staterooms or luxurious suites, giving the feel of being aboard a personal yacht. Even with such a small fleet, Windstar Cruises sail to over 47 countries around the world.

If you're in the market for a luxury cruise, there are a number of excellent cruise lines to chose from.

10 Things You Should Be Monitoring on Your Website

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every business needs to know how it is doing. That's the idea behind exit surveys, customer feedback forms, suggestion boxes and other devices. Without feedback from the customer, monitoring inventory, expenses, revenue and other benchmarks, a business can take a quick slide down a slippery slope, without the owner ever seeing it coming - or being able to stop the slide.

Webmasters also have things they should be monitoring on their websites. Most of these can be classified as traffic related or server performance related. Here is my top ten list.

Traffic totals. You want to know how much traffic you are generating. If the line on the graph is heading down, you know you have to find out why.

Referrers. It's not enough just to know how many visitors you are getting. You need to know where they are coming from. I discovered I was getting a lot of visitors from a Thanksgiving site. They were all being funneled into my Thanksgiving Happiness article. Suddenly I knew I should get more links from other Thanksgiving sites. Valuable information.

Searches. Much to my surprise, my happiness site started getting a ridiculous number of hits from the search for "hairdressers". It just so happens I wrote a humor column on a hairdresser experience. I was surprised to see it getting so much traffic for such a generic, competitive search term. If that had been a term of a little more relevance for me, this information would have lead me to properly optimize the page and get even more traffic.

Pages viewed per visit. If people visit only one page per visit, you have some work to convince them to visit more pages, like those that make you money.

Pages visited. So you threw up on your site something cool as an add-on. How were you to know that other webmasters would link to it and send a whole bunch of traffic your way? Well, now you know, so add some copy to the page to pull visitors into the rest of your site.

Forms. Are they all functioning? A good website monitoring service can keep tabs on them for you. The last thing you want is to have lost hundreds or thousands of subscribers because a sign-up form stopped functioning

Shopping carts. Slow and complicated shopping carts are responsible for an estimated $25 billion in lost sales. Make sure yours is functioning properly. A good website monitoring service can watch this for you, too.

Download speed. Clear your cache and test your pages. Hmm. Maybe those images are a bit large. Time to compress them, or even remove some. Remember that some people are on a much slower connection than you are. I use a satellite connection sometimes, but when I don't, my connection speed is 28K.

Server speed. Are there problems with server speed? Maybe not where you are, but on the other side of the world. Global website monitoring can alert you to a transatlantic connection problem, so you can take it up with your web hosting service.

Server accessibility. All the web hosts promise 99% accessibility. But is that for real? Who monitors them? By one estimate, 75% of inaccessibility is not on the hosting server, but rather on the Internet's backbone network and in global routing. A global website monitoring service can help identify the problem, so that you can work with your web hosting company to resolve it before too many sales are lost.

Fun. If you are not having fun, audition for that drummer position in the local band. There is no point spending your life doing something that bores you. Webmastering should be fun.

Revel in Wild Alaskan Paradise by Land and by Sea

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One vacation that is just about unbeatable in the good ole US of A is Alaska. Few people realize that Alaska is larger than Texas, California, and Montana put together. It has a longer coastline than all other states combined. And it is the least populated state. Plenty of room to roam.

The terrain is quite varied, including active volcanoes, lush valleys, three million lakes, and over 16,000 square miles of glacier. Some of the larger wildlife includes black bears, grizzlies, Polar bears and Kodiaks on Kodiak Island. There are also caribou, moose, Dall sheep, bison, and mountain goats.

If you do a Land and Sea cruise, you'll enjoy the best of both water and land. First of all, you're cruising the deep blue waters off Alaska in a massive ocean liner featuring beautiful accommodations, great shows, incredible food any hour of the day or night, and countless other cruise attractions.

But it's what's going on around you off the boat that will have you gaping on deck or gazing out your cabin window at all hours. You may catch a glimpse of orcas or humpback whales surfacing or spouting 1000 yards off the starboard bow, sea lions basking on jagged rocks, purple glaciers towering above you, and other sea life at spontaneous moments.

Then there are on-shore excursions at historic cities such as Ketchican, Sitka, and Juneau. But perhaps most thrilling of all are the trips through any of 18 national parks, two of the most famous of which are Glacier Bay and Denali. Author, George Miller, writes about one trip to Denali that had his eyes popping. The party ate lunch at Polychrome Pass, 800 feet above the Tolkat River. They looked down on hillsides carpeted in blazing shades of orange, rust, and crimson. Small groups of caribou grazed on the slopes. Then they glimpsed Denali, a 20,320-foot peak that looms over the Alaska Range, a mile higher than any surrounding mountains and higher than any mountain in the U.S. They passed Reflection Pond and Wonder Lake, glimpsing the peaks shimmering in the pure waters. A moose waded into the lake for a drink, and a 400-pound grizzly and her cubs marched across the road in front of them, delicately nibbling blueberries off a limb she held in a paw.

Let me quote Miller's picturesque prose: "The snow-covered peaks of the Alaska Range crowd the horizon like mantled giants standing shoulder to shoulder. Glaciers hang on their shoulders, patiently waiting for the next ice age when they can once again advance and carve new landscapes."

Don't tell me all this doesn't make you want to explore one of the last untamed regions of America. Get on your horse and let's go.

What is Expanded Awareness?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Through the NLP technique of expanded awareness, we can take in more information from the world around u, both in terms of what is observed from a rational conscious state as well as from subjective experiences. It enables you to sense more than your five senses allow, giving you something of a sixth sense to perceive what is occurring around you.

Expanded awareness is said to have been practiced by Samurai warriors who were required to notice an enemy coming from beyond in what could be sensed in a normal state of awareness.

Other than that, I find expanded awareness extremely useful in NLP training and coaching. It allows me to take in more information from the client in coaching as well as the ability to notice what is going on in an entire room of people.

Also you can induce a state of relaxation or trance in yourself, or others if you guide them towards a state of expanded awareness. I find it extremely useful to do on transatlantic flights, which I like to do from an altered state so I can zone out, or play with my own brain. After all, how can you NOT use NLP in moments when you are trying to preserve your sanity? You may as well put your brain to some good use, even in economy class!

Learning how to practice this technique is easy and fun once you get the hang of it. Please see my article entitled "Expanded Awareness Technique in NLP" to learn how you can try out yourself.

Review of Norwegian Gem Transatlantic Cruise Barcelona to Boston

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A solo cruise on the Atlantic in December was just what I needed - no phones, no emails, and just many days of lazing around, doing whatever I liked on a brand new ship.. Just perfect!

Launched: 2007 Passengers: 2,384 Registry: Bahamas Tonnage: 93,000 Crew: 1,154 Decks: 15

Since I was traveling solo, I was determined to be outgoing, although that is not my nature. When we arrived at Barcelona Airport, I talked to anyone who looked like a likely prospect for the same cruise. I met Pat and Mike, a nice couple from Connecticut, who had spent the prior week in India, at their son's wedding. They did not like India, and were pleased to be back in civilization. I met another fellow, and then a very proper looking American fellow, none of whom wanted to share a cab to the ship. (Too much luggage, I was told). 20 euros later (with tip), I was at the docks of the sparkling Norwegian Gem. The decoration that look from afar to be flowers on the hull, were gems. I should have guessed that. No fanfare, no lines, and within 5 minutes I was through the duty free area and on board.. The decor was more subdued than most NCL ships, thankfully. Still all turquoise, blue, melon and burgundy was everywhere. The carpet pattern in the hallways is ocean like, and I was later told, the carpet dolphins swim towards the front of the ship to aid in finding your way.

It was 5PM by the time I boarded. I met with our Cruise Critics in the Star Bar at 6PM. A nice bunch of people, but I had the good fortune to sit at a table with two English couples, Wendy and Mike, and Ken and Jean. They were friendly and welcoming. I discovered that Wendy and Mike now lived in Florida, and the other couple in California. After an hour or pleasant conversation, they invited me to dinner, but I declined. I was still dressed in jeans, the one outfit that is not allowed in the fancier dining rooms. They recommended the Blue Lagoon, and I had some good Tex-mex food there. The evening entertainment in the Stardust Theatre was a singer- dancer replica of Sammy Davis Jr, whom I did even like when he was alive. I stayed for the whole show, though and won $54 in an instant win game (Like Lotto scratch off cards) .

Day 2 I really wanted to sleep all day, but with a meet and greet party at 1030, that wasn't possible. All 103 Cruise Critic people were there, and we met some of the staff. I met a few more people whose names I knew from the board. Always nice to associate a face with a name. An art lecture (and one free print later), a Red Hat Lady meeting where I seemed to be the only participant the dinner with Ken and Jean. Ken excused himself and Jean told me her very interesting life story until the wee hours of the morning. Mine is not an eighth as interesting! Everything from the daughter of a chip shop owner, to a single mother after a failed marriage to finding her way to America with her second husband Ken and her then teenage daughter.

Day 3. I slept so late that I missed breakfast. I went to the gym, but with a massive headache, I felt sick and lasted there only a few minutes. I walked by the outdoor pool, and the sunshine was warm, even though we were now in the Atlantic. Bingo for 40 minutes, and I left $35 poorer. A VERY L O NG art auction brought a second free print, but not much else.

Day 4 Funchal our only port of call. Madeira is a jewel rising from the Atlantic with poinsettias on TREES, beautiful orange cone like flowers - aloe. And bougainvillea. The island features a long steep climb to top with volcanic peaks, and Nuns Valley below. It was a beautiful day. At the top of the toboggan run, an accordion player in a white outfit with a Madeira hat entertained us while we waited a few seconds for our sledge to arrive - a two seater flanked by two men in white with jaunty straw hats. The toboggans or sledges were fun, When the slowed or stopped, the men added wax to make them run over slow spots. The photo taken en route showed two large sized women, crammed into the sledge with mouths open. I bought a brightly colored Madeira hat and football jerseys featuring the local hero, who apparently plays for Man United. We returned to the ship just before it left.

Day 5 I was scheduled for a bowling tournament, but arrived ½ hour after it started. What a concept, bowling at sea. The waves did nothing to help my score. We each threw a ball, and the next person finished the frame. My team was easily eliminated on the first try. The highlight of the day was the murder mystery dinners. We were assigned to teams of 6, each with the same story, and led to the Grand Pacific dining room, where we acted out our parts. I played Holly Day, a billionaire's wife on vacation in Hawaii. It certainly kept the conversation going during dinner.

Day 6. Today's evening entertainment, a comedy troupe from Second City were excellent. Ship - excellent, spacious, always being touched up, even only 6 weeks after 1st sailing.

The rest of the journey was blur. I read 3 ½ books. I slept well. The weather on board out on open deck was warm enough to just wear a long sleeved shirt - no coat or vest needed. My overall impression: Food excellent Specialty restaurants Teppenyaki very good (like a Benehana) and the Italian La Cucina was excellent. Do it yourself laundry on board. Entertainment varied, some just okay, some excellent. Room stewards efficient and made fun towel animals nightly.

I would definitely travel on the Norwegian Gem again, and would not hesitate to do a trans-atlantic cruise, even in the dead of winter.
